The Victorian Government has a range of commitments to improve the environmental sustainability of its procurement processes, including specific policy commitments, and support for Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability recommendations covering procurement of goods and services, accommodation and motor vehicles.
To help further support sustainable procurement, Our Environment Our Future – Sustainability Action Statement established a $1.5 million ECO-Buy Environmental Purchasing Centre as a centre of excellence in this field. ECO-Buy provides training and capacity building programs to departments and agencies that is complementary to state government sustainable procurement policy and requirements.
