ECO-Buy defines environmentally preferable products as “those that have less harmful effects on the environment and human health than competing products serving the same purpose”
Using this definition, ECO-Buy has identified a number of the primary attributes of environmentally preferred products. To list on ECO-Find, a supplier must be able to verify that their product has at least one of the following attributes:
· Recycled Content
· Energy saving
· Water saving
· Reduced toxicity
· Reduced impact on biodiversity
· Reduced impact on human health
Environmental attributes that are more difficult to verify, such as improvements in manufacturing processes, packaging, distribution or operation, are considered secondary criteria and may be considered once the primary criteria are met.
However, ECO-Buy recognises that the area of environmentally preferable products is constantly evolving and that some products may have benefits not covered by our primary criteria. So if you have a product that offers a genuine and significant environmental improvement over existing products, and you can verify these benefits, consider registration as a supplier.

We also have a video on YouTube that tells you a little bit more about how being listed on ECO-Find can benefit your company.

Organisational purchasing
ECO-Buy is focused on organisational rather than individual purchasing. While many products suit both purposes, suppliers should consider the relevance of their products to organisations before they register.
